Romanian born Alexander Balanescu is a prolific composer as well as one of the most visionary and exciting violinists of all time. Leader of the Balanescu String Quartet which he established in 1987, he was instrumental in transforming the string quartet into a musical entity at the heart of the rejuvenation of new music. As a composer he has drawn inspirations from his collaborations, including many dance companies and the RSC and the Globe Theatre. He has been awarded the Gopo prize for the best film soundtrack three times – in 2007 for How I Spent the End of the World (dir. Catalin Mitulescu), 2016 for The Magic Mountain (dir. Anca Damian) and 2023 for The Island (dir. Anca Damian).
All proceeds go to refugee relief.

Individual concert tickets for £18.00 (£5.00 for under-15s) will be available to purchase on the CRAG website from Tuesday September 1st.
Once your order has been processed, we will send you a confirmation email. This email will serve as your ticket (you will not be sent a physical ticket in the post). Please have it ready to show when you arrive at the event, either printed or on your mobile device.
Individual tickets will also be available to purchase from 2 weeks before each concert from Number 5, Market Street, Charlbury.
Season tickets are transferable so you can share with a friend or family member if you cannot make a date.
